I recently had the opportunity to try out a rebounding class at 360 Unique Fitness in Shamokin Dam. I was out of town for the day for a training, totally unprepared, and spent the day hemming and hawing over whether it was worth it to waste two hours running errands, buying a whole workout get-up, and getting home super late just to take a rebounding class. I know myself better than that… of course I can spend two hours running errands, especially if it involves Target and buying workout gear… so, considering it might be my only chance to try it out, I sucked it up, dropped $60 on workout gear, changed in the darkest corners of the Target parking lot, chugged a black Starbucks coffee, and headed off for my first rebounding experience.
First of all, let me say that the customer service at 360 Unique Fitness kinda sealed the deal for me. I messaged the gym on Facebook asking if there was anything I needed to do in order to attend the class and I heard back from them almost immediately. I like to panic over going to new places, so this made me feel 10x more confident walking in there. Walk-in rate was $5 for a class, which I was super pumped about. When I first walked in, the owner showed me around, explained the class to me, and once I rolled my rebounder out, two students showed me the basics of rebounding. I don’t know what expectations I really had in my head, but I walked in there thinking, eh, this isn’t even going to be worth it… it’s not going to be a good workout.
My god was I wrong.
During the 45 minute class, there were at least 10 times I think I saw God and about five times I thought I might have to stop. I was afraid of falling off the rebounder and breaking my neck, but once I found my groove, it wasn’t bad at all. It’s different than just jumping, you really have to make a conscious effort to push down with your feet. We went through a circuit of rebounding, then hit the floor for some strength-training, then did these circuits a second time. The remainder of the class was high-intensity intervals. As a fitness instructor, I always try to kick my own ass during class and let me tell you, this instructor definitely kicked mine.

I loved it. I was so stinking sore for a good two days after. I wish I was closer and could make it a part of my routine. (Let’s be honest, I’m legitimately thinking about getting my own rebounder…) For now, I’ll have to settle for it being a special treat whenever I’m in the neighborhood for training. If you’re local, I definitely recommend checking them out. They have a HUGE offering of classes and definitely know how to make you sweat!
